Real Estate Agent- Transition from p/t to f/t agent

Jack Exum
Posted

I have been in education for 22 years (full-time), and a real estate agent for 2 years (part-time primarily). I got out as an agent due to some family issues and get back into education out necessity. Now my family situation is changed and I have reentered the real estate field as an agent (part-time) looking to convert to full-time once I have established the processes and maintained a consistent pipeline of business. My question is what advice can you give about when to make the transition to full-time real estate. Is there a "tipping point" where it is more of the right time to do so?

Also, what are the "big rocks" to focus on to make that goal of full-time agent a reality?

@Jack Exum from the gates I started out as a full time agent. The first year was obviously the kicker, took me six months to close my first deal and only ended up closing four more properties to finish the year. Going into year two I could already notice a significant change in my business. I consistently had a deal under contract and lead flow seemed much more apparent. Ending year three this past 2021 was by far my most successful year, even in this crazy market. My point here is the fact that being a real estate agent is a very exponential process for most individuals. Fortunatly for me I do not have any other ties to weigh me down so, I can soley focus on my business with limited distractions. My advice for you moving forward is it to get crystal clear on your goals and to track your lead and lag indicators religiously (read the 12 week year). I don't think there will ever be a right time to transition from part time to full time. Luckily for you, you already have two years of experince in the industry so I would assume the transition would not be too much of a shock. Hope this helps!
