Become My Own RE Agent

Matt Ferguson
Posted

Been asking agents to help me find home, and lots of effort. At this point, I feel like I'm wasting agents time when I want to ask lower than asking but am discouraged. Some I know would have won bid, I see home reduce price a week later.
I want to become my own RE agent.
How difficult is it to find a firm to attach to, when they know I'm just working as RE agent for myself?

@Matt Ferguson How many agents have you tried working with? It may be worth trying to find an agent that you want to work with. The downside to becoming your own agent is that you will have a fair amount of expenses associated with hanging your license and you will essentially be hiring a newbie (yourself).

It is relatively easy to find a firm that you can hang your license with but you will want to ask specifically about self-representation. Some firms don't have E&O policies that cover agents representing themselves in the transaction.
