First Client/New World
I got my TX real estate license this year because i wanted to invest in real estate full time and figured becoming an agent would be the best way to learn while transitioning from my day job at a pace thats comfortable for my girlfriend.
almost a month ago i got my first client (AWESOME!). I've learned so much in that short amount of time like:
1. open up your eyes! look at the flooring, is tile even there? look at the ceiling, see any holes? i mean obvious stuff just went over my head. walking through homes with my first investor client has taught me to remove the blindfold and look for problems.
2. Don't give referrals unless you know the person personally (at least had time to feel them out). I have sent a referral to someone and... yeah, i learned this lesson.
3. you have to keep feeding yourself positive things everyday because (at least for me) it can get very discouraging. i love listening to Jim Rohn and Les Brown.
4. If you have a job where you're making decent money, don't quit just yet. I was in such a rush to move out of my day job that i almost didn't consider that i can leverage my salary to build my sales and investing businesses.
5. i decided to document my first few deals on a google document....i think that will help me out a ton.
I didn't start out to make a list, but i always seem to. I'm only a couple of weeks shy of closing this transaction, but i'm stoked to get this far.
I'm grateful for the lessons that i've learned (i didn't list all of them), and the lessons that i will learn.
