How much to put down on a first property

Michael Venneman
Posted

Hey Everyone! I am a sophomore in college and hoping to buy my first house soon, so I can live with some friends junior and senior year near campus. Then the plan is to rent it out to underclassmen after I leave. Since it will be my primary residence for a year or two I have been told I can put around 5% down. Curious if that would be the best thing to do, going into this I was planning on putting down around 15-20%. Still researching the best way to go about this but would love to hear anyones advice. Thanks!
