General Contractor License

Audrey McMillan
Posted

Hello everyone! This question is concerning getting general liability insurance for a general contractor license in CA. I am submitting for my contractor license and seeking advice on how to navigate the GL insurance requirements for a single member LLC. Currently I am new starting out, have no employees, and no previous civilian construction jobs. I have 7 years experience as a construction manager in the Navy and passed the contractors test in CA. Asking around insurance companies wanted gross receipts which seems like I needed to have contracted some jobs prior to getting licensed to provide that information? If anyone in the group has advice, I would greatly appreciate it!
