Finding a Mentor

I am looking to get my feet wet in investing. While I've been reading plenty of books and articles, I need some one-on-one instruction. I want to start out wholesaling so I can build my credit and stack some money for start up. What is the best way to go about finding a mentor? Is it safe to assume majority of investors have started out wholesaling and I should follow in their footsteps?

thanks in advance!!
