Investing from Australia

Hi Guys!

I'm an Australian data scientist with a keen interest in the US real estate market.  Been building a algorithm to predict housing price appreciation over the past few months and I think I'm ready to take the plunge and buy some properties.  Have some friends who are interested in investing alongside me too.

Had quite a few questions about the logistics of investing in the US from overseas and would love to pick the brains of anyone who has gone through this process before.  My big questions are around just the set up of everything (legal, admin, banks) and getting that first property under my belt.  Also curious about whether anyone has gotten financing, and what types of financing.

Also am very open to connecting to people and discussing housing appreciation and the data that's gone into my model.  I think I can provide a very different perspective in that area -- I've certainly churned through alot of numbers!
