Pre-Foreclosure Past Auction Date

I am new to real estate investing and I am using Propstream. There are a lot of pre-foreclosure properties that have dates listed but some of them have passed. Does this mean the house was not sold at auction? Can I still reach out to these homeowners or should I ditch those and stick with properties where auctions are forthcoming?
