Getting started for Apartment Syndication Experience

Hi I'm 25 years old and currently working full time as a project engineer. I'm trying to get into multifamily syndication, but I have no experience in real estate. I've done some research in this field, mainly reading books like Joe Fairless' Best Ever Series, Ken McElroy's Real Estate Investing books. I'm good w/ numbers so I plan on specializing in underwriting and due diligence. Any tips on how to get started? Are there syndication groups that offer internships for underwriting deals or how to find deals? I plan to leave engineering and go full time in this once I gain some traction.
