Updated over 3 years ago,
New to RE investing trying to buy first Multi Family Home
We are a couple starting our journey on Real Estate Investing with an open mind and open ears to all the knowledge and advice from those who choose to share with us. We are humble and always willing to learn.
1- Why are you wanting to buy rental real estate properties?
To create our path to financial freedom and wealth / retirement
2- What model are you choosing ?
Invest in Rental Properties. We want to buy our first multi family home to live in and rent the second one as a form of cutting living expenses to save money for future deals. As of now we are renting in Greenwich CT ( High Rent Prices due to Location ) therefore if we purchased a multi family ( up to 25/30 minutes from Purchase NY preferably due to work), that would allow us to live for less than what we pay for our rent now and we would be able to save as we live in and also rent. We are also open to find a multi-family with a full basement unfinished or finished that we can transform to live in while we rent both apartments and live rent free for the next year allowing us to save a substantial amount of money.
Than follow other options of Real Estate Investments
- Live-in Flip ( future )
- Buying and Holding Properties ( future)
- Flipping Properties (future )
- Wholesaling ( Educating myself on this now )
3- What do you know about managing real estate rental?
I lived and managed a 3 family home owned by my brother where I cleaned, minor fixes things, painted the floor where I lived and left better than I got it, I also took care of renters, collected rent, cut grass, and cleaned snow in winter for a fair trade of really low rent where I was able to save money while learning to manage a rental property. I can do handy repairs and I am a quick learner.
4- The amount of incredible information available can be overwhelming so I am open to organically finding a mentor & I am willing to do some work as well.
We are also working on finding our Core 4
Question: would it be possible to get a loan before your 2 years of W-2 ?
I am dedicating 100% my time now on EDUCATING myself on REInvesting and any recommendation is welcome.
Note: I am a licensed RE in CT who have worked for a full year with rentals only and might consider going back to a brokerage to get more opportunities with first hand deals and be on the ground.
I want to Thank everyone in advance for being so thoughtful and gracious to us.
