Any mentors in Tulsa, OK?
Greetings! My name is Brett. Real estate investing is my dream job, and I would like a guide to show me the ropes. The more I read on Bigger Pockets and in books, the more I realize that what I need is experience, not just theories. Would anyone be willing to mentor me, or know someone who would?

Hi Brett,
Welcome to BiggerPockets!
A mentor is typically someone you know who has a vested interest in your success. They mentor you because they want to see you succeed and generally speaking, their relationship with you extends past just the mentor/mentee relationship.
It sounds like you're looking for someone to volunteer their time to help you succeed. While there are people who will do that, they aren't likely to do it without getting something in return. Whether you pay them or offer free labor or provide some other skill/service they need, they have no vested interest in you, and they will likely expect something in return for helping you.
Remember, you may think that by helping you, they're doing a good deed. But, from their perspective, helping you is just creating a competitor who may steal deals from them in the future. Not very appealing to most people, as you can probably imagine.
So, instead of coming on here and asking someone to help you, I would recommend you start talking about what you have to offer in return. Are you willing to work for 6 months as their assistant? Are you willing to knock on 1000 doors and solicit deals for them? Do you have some specific skill or service you can offer?
Once you start talking about what you can offer (instead of what you need), you may find people to be more receptive to your request.
