First Potential Deal & House Hack
Hello BiggerPockets World,
I recently put an offer in on a duplex "as is" to make the offer stronger and it was accepted! Most of the plumbing was all redone with new combination systems and PEX. The house has new windows, 1 year old roof, and the first floor unit was redone with laminate flooring in the kitchen and has the original hardwood floors (good condition) in the 2 bedrooms and living room. The home inspection is this week, however, I have not met the tenant and not seen the upstairs unit. Should I have waited to offer or is that normal? It is too late in the game now, but for future reference.
The current tenant is paying below market rent by a few hundred and I would like to raise the rents when the lease is over. Would it be wise to consider the tenants to continue renting if they agree to the new terms and price if they meet all my criteria? In other words give them the first option to stay or go? I know my next step is the home inspection, but is there anything else I should be considering as well? Thanks.
