Partnerships and advice

Maria Araneta
Posted

Looking for general advice or insight. I am looking into buying my first property. In order to do this I have a partner who is seasoning/gifting 40k for a down payment, and I will be the one to take out the mortgage. We are going to speak with a lawyer regarding a partnership agreement, a promissory note, season the money, then buy the property with both of us on the title. Does anyone have advice regarding how the property can be transferred to an LLC if both of us own the LLC. Or has anyone in this situation experienced any issues? We do have a meeting with CPA and lawyer coming up but I would like to be prepared with potential questions to ask.
