Mission and Vision Statements

Hi all,

I have been working on my mission and vision statements, along with my business plan so I can get a clearer picture of what I want to bring to my real estate market. So far mine are short and sweet but maybe a little too non-descriptive.

Vision of my business:

We help families and college students live happier, more fulfilled lives by providing the highest quality, comfortable housing that feels like home.

Mission of my business:

To become the highest quality provider of housing in Fredonia, NY for college students and families alike, while also providing great customer service that makes our customers feel appreciated and valued.

I am really trying to stress the quality aspect and provide great value to renters.

It would be great to hear from others how they have set up their mission and vision statements and how they have implemented them to bring their ideas into reality and any feedback you guys could give me.

Thanks,

Nate

Maybe I'm just cynical, but frankly I think spending time on this is a waste of time that could be better spent actually trying to do a deal. Get out there and learn your market, learn the properties, make some offers and buy something. These mission and vision statements won't make you a dollar or help you make any decisions. Your tenants won't care. Lenders won't care. Sellers won't care. So, I'm not seeing who, besides you, gets anything from these.

Now, I could see something like: "my goal is to have $5000 pre tax per month in income from owning, managing, and maintaining rental properties. I will do this by buying properties in my area that have a minimum of 15% cash on cash return after all expenses, vacancy and capital reserves. I will manage the properties myself and will not charge for my time. I will perform maintenance within my abilities. I will contribute initial capital of $20,000 to start buying, will contribute $10,000 per year, and will roll all returns from existing properties into new properties until I have achieved my goal
