Moving to Sydney from the US and want to buy right away

Due to Covid delaying my permanent residency visa, I've, very gratefully, been able to save up more than my goal for a down payment. When I'm finally granted to go to Australia, I'll will have saved up AUD60K for a home. Sydney is one of the most expensive cities to start out in. Do I have a shot at obtaining a mortgage my first year, assuming I'll also be working?

If I can't make it happen there, I plan on moving to Brisbane in the next two years when my visa allows me to move and would buy there. I'm pretty eager to buy and plan on having a room mate to hack the costs.
