Utility company lien follow property?
The property owner of a house that I may purchase has an agreement to pay utility charges for electric bill that has amassed over time. Does the backed bill that is in agreement with the property owner attach to the property or the property owners social / credit? I spoke to the utility company and they told me the property owner will be responsible for the debt and when a new owner purchases a property and new electric service is ordered there will be a new account number and a clean slate will be issued ?! Does anybody have experience with this type of situation opposed to a real estate lien?
