How do I verify that my math is correct using BP calculators?
Hello and good evening to everyone!
When using the rental calculator, how do I make sure my numbers are correct? I use zillow for rental rate, property tax etc. I still feel like my numbers may be off in one area or another. Also, when estimating rehab costs can you point me in the right direction for getting my estimates more accurate please?
Thank you!

Capex numbers are notoriously difficult to come up with, particularly for newer folks. Here in Richmond we have a gentleman whose entire business is based around that, and he does a fantastic job. Perhaps Greensboro has someone like that who can help you? Absent that, you could pick up a copy of BP's Estimating Rehab Costs book by @J Scott.
I would also look at sources other than Zillow for rental rate. Apartments.com and Craigslist are good sources for comparable rentals.
You can also post your calculator results directly to the forum and get more direct feedback!
