Utility fees when demolishing a house
Hi guys,
I’m requesting help understanding the utility fees when demolishing a house. I have called the utility companies, but I’m not getting a clear overall picture of the whole process.
If I demolish a house and its basement foundation, then how much does it cost to excavate old utility lines if I have no plans to rebuild (selling the lot only)? The utilities office says I have to pay to take out the old lines for safety reasons when not building again for 2 - 5 years.
Alternatively, if I rebuild with:
-excavating out the old foundation
-putting in a new & larger foundation
-starting right after the demolition is over
…then do I have to pay to rip out all the old utility lines AND install brand new lines to the new home? How much do these jobs cost, & how do they estimate this?
And also, I’m guessing that I will need a temporary water supply and temporary power supply for the rebuild projects only, right?
Thanks :)
