House hacking multifamily home

Cherisse B.
Posted

Hi BP community! I'm a new investor. I want to know who started their investment portfolio house hacking a triplex or fourplex and if you have any general advice/tips. My partner and I are looking to start off our portfolio this way. Thanks!

@Cherisse B. house hacking is such a great strategy. The main thing I tell everyone who is looking to house hack is that you always have to decide whether you want quality of life or cash flow more. Most people probably should buy in a nicer area and opt for a good quality of life as opposed to chasing cash flow into tougher areas. I also tell people to buy the very best quality building they can afford. Try to find one with excellent "bones" in a solid neighborhood and the rest will take care of itself.
