New to bigger pockets looking for some direction and partnership

I'm new to real estate investing and don't know who to trust or what to believe. I live in Oregon but would like to invest in rental property in markets like Phoenix, DFW and other states that are seeing high migration of people leaving the expensive coastal states. Interested in SFR and have an interest in learning about and using a self directed IRA to get started.

@Kelly Gilmore Welcome to the awesome and addicting world of real estate!

1. I recommend listening to as many Bigger Pockets episodes as you can (the old ones are still awesome and applicable)

2. Read lots of real estate books (my go-to recommendations for new investors are Retire Early with Real Estate by Chad Carson, both of David Greene's books, and The Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller)

3. Network with as many real estate people as you can! Once you decide on a market that fits your vision and goals, focus your networking on that area.

I wouldn't partner with anyone until you have a clear idea of what your long-term goals are and how you want to achieve them. You will then want to find a partner who has similar goals, otherwise, the partnership will be a disaster. Best of luck and keep us updated on your journey!
