New to Real Estate; Located in North NJ
Hi BP Community,
My name is Hardik, and I'm from North Jersey. I've started reading "The Book on Rental Property Investing" by Brandon Turner as well as listening to podcasts. I acknowledge that in-person meetups may not be going on because of the pandemic, but wanted to reach out and ask if any members attend any online events from any meetup/local real-estate investment club. Any advice/suggestions to ramp up and gain more knowledge? Although taxes are high around here compared to other locations (out of state), I do like the idea of house hacking a multi-family house. Would this be a good way to start off? I would also entertain the idea of investing out of state, but i'm sure it can get complicated very quickly, especially as a beginner. Also, I came across this turnkey discussion that looks like another route: https://www.biggerpockets.com/... I appreciate any advice, and thanks in advance!

Hi @Hardik Rana!
House hacking is always a great way to get started with investing. You would still need to understand the numbers very well on the property, for when you are living there and when you move out. Find a investor friendly agent in the area you are considering house hacking in and see what kind of opportunities might be available.
I am from Philadelphia and I decided I wanted to start my investing out of state. I actually went the turnkey route for my first investment the past October (see post below). I would be happy to share more about my experience if you had any questions!
Best Wishes!
