Short term rental property

Hello everyone, I am new to real estate but want to invest. I first plan on purchasing a single-family dwelling in San Diego, CA, for short term rentals, then investing in other Southern California properties in the future. Lastly, I live in New Mexico, and I will most likely use a management company for the property. Does anyone in the community have experience in short term rental properties and resources I could investigate? Thanks
