Tips on finding an advisor or mentor?

Hi everyone,

While I’m sure this has been asked and answered many times over, I wanted to still ask. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to network your way to finding a sound advisor or mentor? I am currently based out of upstate South Carolina and my first intent is to attend a local CREIA on the 3rd to network, but any help beyond this is greatly appreciated! I’m in no rush and would like to do this the right way. This is especially considering it would be a stretch to imagine someone willingly dedicating time to answer all of my questions without having previously developed any rapport.

Thank you in advance!

-Ryan
