House Hacking Your First Property

Jevin Subedi
Posted

Greetings,

Hello everyone! I'm new to real estate investing and wanted to get some insights on house hacking. Me and my wife were thinking of "house hacking" our first property. We figured it'd be a great way to set our foot into the world of real estate investing. My question is what would be the most suitable in order to do this? A single family house or a duplex? Also, what's the best way to look for duplex houses? It seems like your results are pretty limited as far as searching online.

I’m currently house hacking a duplex with my girlfriend. I personally would not want to do a single family after being in my current house hack. I like the private unit just to me and my girlfriend. Also they are about 750 sq ft 2br/1ba so storage is limited and we use the spare bedroom for that.

That being said everyone is different and so are their circumstances and what they might be able to handle.

Best of luck!
