Starting out-looking to connect

Hi BP community! My name is Mike and I'm looking to take the first steps toward building a team and determining a market to begin a single family BRRRR portfolio of about 5-10 properties to start. I would be looking to make my first purchase in about 12-18 months and hit the ground running from there. In the interim I'd like to nail down the general market and begin sharpening my deal analysis while establishing some connections with investor friendly realtors.

I am looking for some general feedback in terms of markets to begin focusing in on. I live on Long Island, about a half hour outside NYC and will be looking to invest outside my area. A few areas I am currently considering are North Carolina, particularly the greater Charlotte area, Northern Florida, and upstate New York. I am definitely open to checking out others as I’m in the first phases and looking for some guidance. Super excited to get this journey going and look forward to connecting!
