Take Time to THANK

Listening to the podcast 419 with Nir Eyal (awesome podcast by the way) we were encouraged to set aside 2 hours to unplug and just think with a pen and paper in hand and write down the things that come to our mind. Well I plan to do that; but while I was listening to the podcast and allowing my mind to get a head start on thinking, the thought came to me that since this week is Thanksgiving, it may be a good idea to also take time to THANK. So I would like to create this post focused on thanking and being grateful and I plan to write down something each day this week.

Starting off on a Sunday I would like to focus my gratitude on things with more of a spiritual nature. Today I am grateful for a loving God that has blessed me with strengths and talents but who also loves me in spite of my weaknesses and mistakes. Similarly, I am grateful for my beautiful wife who also loves me - mistakes and all. And, considering the political unrest right now, I also want to say that I am grateful for my country, The United States of America. My business partner and I just got back from Costa Rica where we were doing a real estate investing tour and after about a week, we realized that the United States really is the land of opportunity. In a conversation with my friends in Costa Rica, we realized that the rent to purchase price ratio was so low and interest in lending was so high that building a rental portfolio there is really difficult and the cash on cash returns are not that high. So I am grateful to be in a country that creates an environment where we can be rewarded for the efforts that we put into things.

For those interested in sharing, what are you grateful for this week of Thanksgiving?
