First deal - nightmare underwriting!

Hello BP Folks,

I am working on my first house hacking deal. I was able to find property in my price range, skip an FHA and do conventional with 5% (I thought it was going to be 3.5% but then they said 5% because its a modular [I own the land though, no lot rental]). Now I'm in the underwriting process and I must have dumped this underwriter in high school because they are ripping me apart. Every few days there is some new miracle they want me to make happen. Yesterday, 4 days before closing, the closing costs are $1400 more than estimated. Last week, they need a $700 engineering inspection. I am a single woman doing this on just my income. I have such regrets about my lender and spent all day yesterday crying. Deal could still fall apart.

I don't need advice, I'm just trying to keep my eye on the prize and my spirits up (and vent to people who have maybe been in similar situations). I'm only discussing it to vent and let others know complications come up and be prepared. Not afraid, just prepared. Thanks for letting me let it out! ~Jenine
