Job seeking during COVID

I was recently laid off due to the COVID pandemic. I am very interesting in using this opportunity to begin a career in real estate investing. I have read several books and listened to numerous bigger pockets podcasts. I was wondering what jobs would be relevant to my interest.

The first thing that came to mind was real estate agent. Would this help me get a sort of “boots on the ground” outlook?
