Looking to purchase first rental property in IL

Hello fellow BP mates,

I just got started with my real estate investment journey. I live in the neighborhoods of Chicago and am looking to purchase my first rental property within IL. I am primarily looking for single / multifamily turnkey units within a max budget of $ 200K. Any tips / insights on neighborhoods that are good for investment would be appreciated. Would also love to connect with realtors and property managers, and the larger community in the region.

As a first time investor, I am spending a lot of time searching for properties and doing calculations, but am unable to progress beyond that to pick the right neighborhood etc. Reaching out to the community to make that leap. Any feedback provided will be really great.

Regards,

Mahesh

@Mahesh Nair - Congrats on jumping onto the real estate bank wagon!  $200k won't get you very far in Chicago for multiunits, but I'd consider looking on the West.

Great idea to start looking for real estate agents there are tons of great ones on BP.  Ill loop in some of the other good investor savvy agents ones besides @John Warren above.  They all work in different areas so you can figure out who would be the best fit for you.
