Any comments regarding investing into an opportunity zone.

I’m looking into properties within my city that are deemed opportunity zones. Has anyone purchased an investment property within an opportunity zone and if so are there any perks in doing so?

@Nakia Addison

There are a lot of rules and stipulations around opportunity zone investing. Opportunity zone investments provide more tax benefits to investors than anything else because the benefit of the investment lies in investing capital gains into these zones and not just regular capital. Also, there are holding requirements, improvement requirements, etc.

Honestly speaking , if you have a substantial amount of capital gains, investing in opportunity zones could prove beneficial. But if you’re just looking to invest regular capital- opportunity zones wouldn’t provide any additional benefit than a regular investment.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Canesha
