New investor with questions about rental property investing

Hello I am a new investor looking to buy my first rental property. I've been watching videos, listening to podcasts, and reading books to learn as much as I can about rental investing. I regularly drive for dollars now to find deals but I'm still uncertain about some things. Is it a good idea to invest in a fixer upper for my first rental property on a low budget? I've heard about FHA 203k loans but i've read some posts saying that its not a good idea to buy one as a new investor and to just buy a turn key property. If anyone could give me some feedback that would be very appreciated. Thank you
