Zoning & Permit Requirements
Hello Good People,
New member looking for community insight! I am about to close on a large two family property in New Britain CT, and would like to renovate the 2 x 4 bed units to 3 or 4 smaller units.
I have spent many hours on the town website seeking information on the correct approach to learning what my regional/situational limitations are, but I am not keen on the legal jargon used in the town municode and assume there must be a better way to develop this knowledge.
Primarily interested in the following:
- Utility (water/gas/elec) expansion requirements/costs
- Zoning restrictions
- Projected permitting/inspection cost analysis
Thank you in advance!

@Griffin Doninger first of all I would start with zoning and which zone your property is. If it’s in 2 family zone I think you’re not gonna get far. Interactive map is on NB town website
