Rolling over a 401k to a self-directed IRA.

Hello, I'm looking for a reliable custodian to roll my company-sponsored 401k into a self-directed IRA. I'm looking to purchase rental properties to supplement my soon-to-be retirement. Also, I'm looking for any information and references on the whole process. I understand the safest way to do this is through an LLC. Please advise.
