How much earnest money should be given in wholesale deal?

I am new to wholesaling in need to know what is appropriate amount for earnest amount?

I wrote a contract and send it to a seller that is also a real estate agent they sent a counter with her own form of contract and changed the amount of earnest money to be 5% of the home cost.

should I just walk away? Great deal though.

help please
