Starting out Short Term or Long Term

Hello everyone.

Brand new investor here. I’ve listened to many podcasts and read quite a few books in the past 6 months.

I wanted to get thoughts on short term vs long term rentals as the first “foot in the door”.

My current course of action is to purchase a vacation property and leverage it as a short term rental. I’ve completed due diligence and seem to understand when I will see a deal for the general market (which is doing good even with COVID).

There’s pros and cons that I see going either direction.

Just looking for opinions from others. And also if anyone has started with STR, it would be good to know how it went.

Thanks in advance
