Pittsburgh, PA (Brentwood) House Hack

Kyle Wilson
Posted

Hello everyone, I posted last year about house hacking in Pittsburgh but did not get serious until this year. What do people think about Brentwood, PA? I have found a couple units that may work but am wondering if I am missing something. The market for duplexes seems low south of the city, but in Brentwood is appears plentiful. Is it the taxes? The area seems nice enough. I also don't see the area appreciating too much but you never know. Thanks.

@Kyle Wilson Great area but yes the taxes are crazy high there. Makes it hard to make the numbers work, especially once you account for the potential tax increase from the new assessed value if you are buying it much higher than what it's currently assessed at. Yet despite that people continue to pay more and more for multis there and you just have to wonder how they are making any money on some of them.
