Upstate NY Investments

Hi BiggerPockets community! This is my first discussion but with the first comes many more... right? I have never written with the intent to create discussion but hopefully I can get a few people to pitch in!

I am here in upstate NY (Rochester, originally from Buffalo) and wanting to start to invest in properties since I do know both of these markets decently well for the knowledge that I have gained so far living in both.

I would say my main question here for this discussion would be why I do not see many people talking about any upstate NY investing? I feel like the market is good here and we have a lot of diverse employment opportunity to keep tenets in place and able to pay rent. Is the the state of NY that people are looking to stay away from? I know New York always has to have a hand in something that typically isn't in the favor of low taxes...

Thank you for taking a look and look forward to hopefully finding out more about why or why not invest here.

-Dylan
