Seeking Renovation Knowledge and Experience in Phoenix, AZ

Hi all!

I'm a 23 year old recent grad and am currently working as a field service engineer in the Phoenix, AZ area. I'm looking to get into real estate investing (buy and hold in particular) and am trying to learn as much as I can before I dive in. I have experience working with tools and doing projects here and there but have never been apart of a home renovation. I'd like to do a portion of the renovations myself when I do get to the point where I'm ready to invest, so I'm hoping to gain some experience beforehand.

Does anyone in the Phoenix area do their own renovations on their investment properties that may be looking for an extra set of hands / cheap labor? I currently work a compressed work week that gives me about 50% of my days off, including most weekends and I'd love to join you on a project.

If not, do you guys have any tips for learning about the renovation process in general? (i.e. deciding on the most valuable things to reno, creating a renovation budget, and executing)

Thank you all in advance!

Tim
