Can't Live in My "Primary Residence"
Hey all! Just signed up today!! I have been studying investing in the stock market, and in real estate, relentlessly, for the last six months. I read though "Investing in Real Estate with No Money Down" (shoutout BiggerPockets! Great book!). I can wrap my head around the options for financing and potential moves from there. My question for discussion is does anyone have experience with having a loan that requires you to live on the property, but you cant? I am in a unique situation where one of my jobs provides an apartment, and utilities, for free. I have no legitimate living expenses currently. All my debts have been paid off, too. The catch is that I HAVE to live in the apartment. This will be my first home purchase ever (woohoo!), but it will be solely for investment purposes. Can anyone offer advice on my situation? I am trying to gather as much information as I can, so I can make a smart decision in the future.
-I know it'd be a big risk to get the loan and be caught living elsewhere
- 20% down payment is possible, but it would take some more time to save it. I am looking to catch a deal this time next year, should Covid-19 provide the opportunity.
