Good time to build a home with plan to rent in 3-5 years?

Hello,

We are considering building our first home, we have found a good community that we expect to be a great rental location for when we move on. We have a large amount of military for potential 2-3 year rentals.

We are looking to transition from renting to owning and building a home. Our goal would be to live in the home for 2-3 years, then once we move (out of state) we would rent the home for 3-10 years before we consider selling the property.

What is everyone input into building a new home and being an A class rental going into this market with any potential recessions coming up.
