Goal setting - # of years and units/properties calculation

Hello BP!

My name is Balaji residing in Dallas, Texas - currently educating myself with RE books, podcasts, etc. and also saving money for my first rental. My wife and I have full time jobs (Accounting and Software Consulting respectively) which we wish to keep them. I am leaning towards multi family buy and hold investments. RE is a ocean with lots to learn and so I'm thinking of going with some reputed Turnkey company for my first rental just to get my feet wet soon (in a year or so) and save the hassle of searching/analyzing deals which I am yet to learn how to - but first, I want to set a clear goal on number of units/properties that I should target to buy and time period in years, put the goal in my room and see it everyday. I need help in how to go about the calculating the number of units and years for goal setting. Is there a formula or something to calculate the same?

This is my first post - please forgive me if I did not follow any rules.

Look forward to learn from you all. Thanks!

Cheers,

Balaji
