1st time buyer needs exterior work advice.

Hello BP community!

First time home buyer here. I am buying a house to live in, fix up and either sell or rent out in the next 2-5 years. I had an inspector look at the home and it looks like it's going to need a new roof and some structural work on the carport. The aluminum siding is also quite dated and ugly so our plan is to replace it in hopes to bring up the curb appeal/value. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on the most cost effective way for choosing shingles/roofers and someone to assess the carport. I'm not looking to cheap out on materials but I'm looking to get the best ROI. We'll be DIYing all reno's on the interior to cut costs but we'd prefer to have professionals do the exterior.

Thanks a bunch!

Mike
