22 y/o looking to get into REI in Tampa/St. Pete. Advice?

Moving to the Tampa bay area in a few months, have a few thousand dollars and I’m thinking of starting to invest, maybe buy and hold at first? A couple of single family homes/ one or two multi family. Heavy construction background and willing to do 100% of rehab labor myself. Just not sure exactly where to start looking.
