Investing in Out of State Properties

I am just starting in the process of gathering as much info as possible before taking the first real steps of finding deals. Would anyone possibly know if you would need to speak to an attorney in the state in which you plan on investing in? I currently live in New York but have plans to invest in states such as Ohio and Florida.

Thank you all for responding to my post.

@Caleb Brown Thank you for the suggested read, going to grab a copy as soon as I can.

@Nicole Heasley Beitenman Thank you for responding. I was inquiring if there is a difference and or advantage between speaking with one locally (New York) or in an area which I planned to invest in.

@Sean Toomey Thank you for the suggestion. I will start to look into property management in those areas.

@Zeke Liston Thank you for the suggestion.

@Remington Lyman Thank you so much, that would be most helpful.
