First Rental - Eligible Expenses for tax deduction?
Hi, I live in a condominium. I bought another unit in the same building and moved into it in September. Due to the rental cap, I had to wait to rent my previous unit. Finally got the OK to list in December. In January I repainted the unit, and had the carpets cleaned. My realtor ended up finding a tenant, whose lease started in February. My question is could I claim any losses due to not be able to rent my unit sooner? What about all the expenses associated with purchasing materials/equipment to get the rental ready?
