Finding the owner of a empty property

Hello to all
Im just getting started in this business.Looking for my first purchase,close to my home.I see empty houses and I'm wondering how to find the owners of the property?By the way I love this site,I can tell I'm going to learn alot here.

Actually i have a relative who is a law student with access to skip trace software. i gave her the homeowner's name and boom, she gave me a current phone number in about 20 seconds.
I actually think broke law students are a good source for this, because one guy that i found online wanted to charge me $100 per name...yeah right.
