cpa considering switch to RE agent

Posted

I have been working in public accounting for 9+ years and made it to the manager ranks but have started to reach the point of burnout. I have my CPA, MBA and recently have earned my license during Q4 of 2019. I am feeling called to take a run as a realtor but having trouble with the conversion from W2 to commissioned earnings. I have a strong work ethic and a ton of energy but would like to channel it in a different direction. I am losing my mind trying to figure out what to do.

On top of the general change in career I am struggling to decide whether or not I would prefer to do commercial or residential. I have an opportunity to join a larger commercial firm. I have a relatively strong network that may be able to support either. Again, just totally lost as I make ~$100k but have been unhappy for quite some time now.

I am 30 years old with zero debt, no wife, no kids.

It has been difficult to seek unbiased advice on this matter and going crazy over analyzing it. Greatly appreciate any advice or support that you all may have for someone considering making the switch!
