Investing in Rental Property / Romania

Alex Olah
Posted

Hello there fellow investors,

My name is Alex, a former student-athlete and a alum of Northwestern University.

I play professional basketball overseas. I make a decent living off that but my career will be short and I want to start investing in real estate, in Romania, my home country.

I want to buy apartments and rent them for passive income.  Usually, 2 bedroom apartments cost between 60k and 80k and the rent is around 350-450/month.

My question for you is, what will be best to do? Use the 30k for one down payment which will cover half of the cost of an apartment or split it in two and get maybe 2 apartments?

Mortgage payments would be around 300/month for 15k down payment or 200/month for 30k down payment.

The other thing is that I could most likely gather enough cash to buy an apartment by this time next year with cash. But I want to get this started early, to build my portfolio, and live financially free.

Also, if I can gather money quickly, should I used them for other down payments or pay off the mortgage quicker?

I appreciate all your help!
Alex
