FHA 12 months Requirements questions
I recently purchased an FHA two family house. During the process, I got a promotion and cleared it with my lender. My new job is 52 miles from this house. I was going to tough it out for a year.
After purchasing and moving in, I discovered one thing after another. The wood flooring is disgusting from the previous tenants dogs that they didn't care for, and discovered mouse droppings behind the appliances and in the back of the cabinets. I want to have pest services look into it. I have no proof the previous owners knew, so I know I have no recourse. The side of the house I'm in needs other stuff like new paint throughout and refinished floors. That's not a big deal.
What I want to do is keep the house my primary residence while I get the pest problem taken care of, repaint and refinish floors. But I want to rent an apartment by my current job. Is this fraud? If i dont rent out the two family until after the one year, and leave it as my mailing address, address with work, address on my license and utilities active in my name? I'm not trying to cheat, I'd actually be paying double(rent and mortgage).

This wasn't something you could have foreseen at the time you signed your loan docs. You're good.
Keep documentation on all these health hazards you are or have encountered, just in case anyone questions it.
