Hi Bigger Pockets family,

I am devoting today to driving for dollars! I am excited.

What are some things that more experienced REI look for when driving around neighborhoods?

I am currently in the gulf coast of Mississippi area. Looking for my first opportunity.

Like @Sean McDonnell said, these properties usually stick out depending on the area. The yards will most likely be overgrown and you may see paperwork posted to the front door or windows. Mississippi is a bit different in working with the utilities/court house to get information on water shut offs, probate properties, etc. These typically have to obtained in person at the courthouse or public water department.

Driving for dollars can be worth it, but it doesn't mean much if you can't trace that property back to the owner. There are sites out there that can help with skip tracing; however, there are a few other ways you can do this albeit manually that takes about 5 mins also.

I'm new to this as well, but learning pretty quickly. If I can be of any help, feel free to reach out.
